What is MDF board?
What material is density board?
1. Its full English name is DensityFiberboard, abbreviated as MDF, abbreviated as MDF. It is an artificial board made from wood fibers or other plant fibers, which are crushed, separated, dried, coated with urea formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives, and hot pressed. Its density generally ranges from 500 to 880 kilograms per cubic meter, and its thickness is generally 5 to 30 millimeters.
2. A type of medium density fiberboard (artificial board). The logs are defatted and peeled, crushed into wooden pieces, and then formed under high temperature and pressure. The density is very high, so it is called density board. Its surface is often coated with melamine or wooden veneer. Advantages include excellent physical properties, uniform materials, no dehydration issues, and no deformation due to moisture; The melamine finish on its surface has the characteristics of moisture-proof, anti-corrosion, wear-resistant, and high-temperature resistance, without the need for post-treatment, and with low formaldehyde content. Due to the fact that the raw materials are all very fine wood powder, from the perspective of moisture resistance, if a medium density board is soaked in water, it will expand like bread.
3. The density of medium density board is not as high as that of high-density board, but it is higher than low-density board. The common specifications are 2440mm * 1220mm, with thicknesses of 3mm, 5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 25mm, and other sizes. Medium density board with other thicknesses can also be customized.
Characteristics of MDF board
1. The internal structure is uniform, with moderate density, good dimensional stability, and minimal deformation.
2. The physical and mechanical properties such as static bending strength, internal bonding strength, elastic modulus, board surface, and board edge screw grip force are superior to those of particleboard.
3. The surface is flat and smooth, making it easy for secondary processing. It can be applied with rotary cut veneer, planed veneer, painted paper, impregnated paper, or directly painted or printed for decoration.
4. Medium density fiberboard has a larger width and can also vary in thickness from 2.5 to 35mm. It can be produced according to different purposes.
5. The mechanical processing performance is good, and the processing performance of sawing, drilling, tenoning, milling, sanding, etc. is similar to that of wood, and some even better than wood.
6. Furniture components that are easy to carve and mill into various shapes and shapes, and the processed irregular edges can be directly painted and precision processed without the need for edge sealing.
7. In the production process of medium density fiberboard, chemical agents such as waterproofing agents, flame retardants, and preservatives can be added to produce special purpose medium density fiberboard.
